静岡県のホールアース自然学校へ行ってきました。
ここは３０人を超えるスタッフが働く全国最大級の自然学校で、富士山麓のフィールドでさまざまなプログラムを実施しています。
ここで３月に実施される「ろうきん森の学校〜こだわりの木の器づくり」を、アカデミーのものづくり研究会がお手伝いすることになり、今回はその打ち合わせでした。教官の山口と私、学生の桑村の３人が行ってきました。
先方の窓口となった大武圭介さん（冒頭写真右）はアカデミーの誰もが知っているカリスマ卒業生です（このページに紹介があります）。全国各地の企業や自治体の委託を受けて、自然学校のいろんな事業の計画から実施まで関わっておられます。
We visited the Whole Earth Nature School in Shizuoka last Saturday. As the Japan's leading nature school with more than thirty staffs, the Whole Earth provides children and families with various nature experience programmes in their field at the foot of Mt.Fuji.
The purpose of our visit was to discuss on a wooden-bowl-making course in March, which we will be running. Two lecturers, Hiroshi Yamaguchi and I, and a student attended to it.
Mr.Keisuke Ootake, the Whole Earth's coodinator, is a famous graduate of the Academy. He organizes many programmes in association with local governments and private companies all over Japan.
打ち合わせにはスライドショーや木工旋盤でつくった作品をたくさん持ち込み、スタッフのみなさんに見ていただきました。電動の木工旋盤と、先日のアカデミーの生涯学習講座で好評だった手挽きろくろも持っていって、作業のようすも見ていただいたり、実際にやってもらったり。
まだ皮のついた小さな枝が、シュルシュル削れてあっという間にコマや器に早変わり！という、作り始めからでき上がりまで見られるおもしろさは、旋盤ならではのものですね。森の恵みを暮らしに生かす、ということが身近に体験できます。
これから具体的な内容をさらに詰めていきます。
We took lots of turned products and some slide shows of our previous courses to show them. We also took an electric lathe and a man-powered one for them to give a try.
It is a great advantage of woodturning lathes that you can see from green wood to a finished product instantly on one tool. It is going to be a direct experience for the participants of the course to enrich their lives with the product of forest.
