何度かこのブログでもお伝えしていますが、８月４〜８日は森林文化アカデミーを会場に「ぎふ山の日」のイベントが繰り広げられます。
８月４日は「ものづくりセミナー〜作る体験だけで終わらせていませんか？」。
自然学校やNPOスタッフの方を対象に、ものづくり講座をよりよい内容にするためのヒントを伝えます。
８月５日は「森林文化特別講座」。
アル・ゴア前米副大統領の「不都合な真実」の訳者で、環境ジャーナリストの枝廣淳子さんの講演です。
８月６〜７日は「美術・技術教員研修」と「木のおもちゃづくり講座」。
親子を対象に、木のおもちゃづくりをします。また近隣の学校の美術・技術担当の先生方に、木を使ったものづくり講座の運営方法を学んでいただきます。
おなじく８月６〜７日には、「木の塗装講座」。
漆芸家・登根円さんとともに、漆やオイルの塗装をたのしく学びます。

The 8th of August is 'the day of mountain' which was established by Gifu local government since last year. There are lots of events and activities, especially for children, take place on this day at the main venue Gifu Forest Academy. We the craft and furniture department staffs are preparing for a series of craft courses from the 4th to 8th.
4th Aug. "Seminar for Professionals: how to run a craft event"
We provide some hints to brush up craft events for nature schools and NPO staffs.
5th Aug. "Special Lecture on Forest Culture"
By Junko Edahiro, the environment journalist and the translator of "Inconvenient Truth" by Al Gore.
6th-7th Aug. "How to run a craft course" for art teachers.
6th-7th Aug. "Wooden Toy Making" for families.
6th-7th Aug. "Wood Finishing"
Madoka Tone, the Japanese lacquer artist, shows how to apply Japanese lacquer on wooden utensils. Oil finishing by the Academy staff is also provided.

前置きが長くなりましたが、ものづくり研究会の学生も多く参加する「グリーンウッドワーク協会」では、８月７日と８日に「木のアクセサリーづくり」を実施します。
7日は事前予約、8日は当日会場受付で各18名程度です。

The Green Woodwork Association will run 'wooden accessory making' programme on the 7th and 8th August. Advanced booking is available for the 7th, whereas you can book on site on the 8th. We accept 18 participants on each day.
Send an application to the Forest Support Centre, or the Green Woodwork Association.
先週末には、このイベントにスタッフとして参加する学生が、指輪づくりの手ほどきを受けました。講師役は、当日もイベントを取り仕切る会長の加藤慎輔さんです。
当日は子どもたちに１時間程度で指輪を作ってもらうため、スタッフ自身が慣れておかないといけません。桜の生木に穴をあけ、足踏み旋盤に取り付けて、さっそく作業開始！
Shinsuke Kato, the director of the Association, gave a lesson to the students who will be working as staffs on the event how to make wooden ring using a pole lathe.
ほぼ指輪の形に削れたら、電気ペンで焼きながら模様をつけていきます。
Once the ring is shaped on the lathe, take out of the lathe and draw some patterns with a wood burning pen.
指輪完成！

このあと、加藤さんには新ネタ「木のペンダントづくり」も披露してもらいました。カブトムシのペンダントです。まず足踏み旋盤で、カブトムシを２つ合わせた形に挽いていきます。
Kato showed us how to make a wooden beetle pendant. He turns green wood on the lathe into the shape of two beetles facing each other.
これを２つに割ってツノを削り、穴を開けてビーズを通せばカブトムシのペンダントのできあがり。グリーンウッドワーク協会の公式ユニフォーム、緑の「生」Tシャツによく映えます。
当日はこのTシャツを着たスタッフがみなさんをお待ちしています。ぜひアカデミーへ！
Split it into halves, carve the horn, drill a hole and put a string through the hole with two beads. The pendant suits especially well on our green uniform. (The logo means 'raw' = 'green'. )
