All the students of Craft and Furniture Making Dept. were practicing hand planing today.
The second-year students are making furniture such as a dining table and a chest of drawers. They are planing the components before assembly right now.
１年生は鉋の仕込み方、使い方を習って、まな板と下端定規（鉋の台を調整するためのもの）を制作中。
ひたすら研ぎ、ひたすら削る毎日です。
The first-year students are learning how to 'set up' the handplane, how to sharpen its blade, and how to use it. They first make a chopping board, then a wooden straight edge to adjust the base of their plane.
